The Louisiana Association of School Business Officials (LASBO) is a non-profit professional association of school administrators whose primary skills and services are in the business and operations functions of the schools.

Our Mission
To promote excellence and professional ethical standards in the practice of public school business finance by educating and training our membership in the most efficient and economic methods of conducting our business affairs, all for the ultimate benefit of the children of the state of Louisiana.

Our History
So that you can read the history of LASBO first-hand, we encourage you to open the link below where you will find the first LASBO LEDGER newsletter in August 1994 when Steven Stanfield from DeSoto Parish School Board was president. One of Steven’s goals was to interview Gaynor Dawson, LASBO’s “founding father” and first president in 1965 and share the history of LASBO in Mr. Dawson’s own words with the membership. That interview and photo of the first officers for LASBO is included in this newsletter. Thank you, Steven, for your foresight and desire to put this history in writing for LASBO before we lost our wonderful friend and first president, Gaynor Dawson. (Note: Mr. Dawson died in September 2001 at the age of 91. The LASBO Scholarship program is named after him, and he attended as many of the LASBO Conferences that he could to personally make these awards.)
